Bearing up under the terrible situations life sometimes throws at us is hard, even when we have lots of loving support. But doing it alone --- it's just about too much for one person to manage. So finding help and understanding is one of the key things our More than Conquerors group provides to single moms.
Let me give you a very precious example of this from the Conquerors group that just ended. One of our ladies had endured some unthinkable circumstances just before the group started but despite her pain and stress, she opened up and began to bond with the other ladies right from the start. She was alone with her kids and devastated...and the other ladies immediately reached out to comfort and support her. It was beautiful, and week after week, it grew. She was getting more solidly on her feet and gaining strength. Then at about half way through the series, she got the news that her mother's cancer had spread to the brain and was now terminal. Torn between being here to look after her kids and flying hundreds of miles to look after her dying mother - a dreadful position to be put in. It became clear that she was critically needed there, so she left the children with their dad and went. Week after week, the other Conquerors sent her texts and mailed her cards, and she called us for encouragement and insight. The connections became a lifeline for her, even across so great a physical distance. Over and over, she told us that our love, support, and prayers were carrying her through it. Now the group has ended, but the relationships are continuing.
If her mother's illness had reached that stage only a few weeks earlier, this Conqueror would have been forced to face the ordeal virtually alone. Instead, God provided her with a family to stand beside her. Thank you, Father, for letting us be part of your amazing work of love!
